Description
Peppermint Essential Oil
Botanical name: Mentha Piperita
Peppermint Essential Oil.
Conversional or Organic.
Peppermint (Mentha × piperita, also known as Mentha balsamea Wild)[1] is a hybrid mint, a cross between watermint and spearmint.[2] Indigenous to Europe and the Middle East,[3] the plant is now widely spread and cultivated in many regions of the world.[4] It is occasionally found in the wild with its parent species. Peppermint oil producers get it through steam distillation, in which they expose the plant to high temperature, high-pressure steam. The heat and steam cause the oil to evaporate out of the plant. When the resulting vapor, a mixture of steam and oil, cools and condenses, the pure oil can be separated out and collected.
Peppermint oil is used in the food & beverage industries to impart natural mint flavor to various beverages, ice creams, sweets & desserts, as well as confectionary items. The cosmetic industry utilizes peppermint oil on a vast scale in body lotions, moisturizers, and different creams.
